As you know Facebook has converted all business pages to timelines. Many of you are freaking out, wondering what happened to your landing pages and how can I make my page unique. You might also wonder what is a cover photo. This post will help you understand this change and give you some rules and guidelines regarding how to use the Facebook timeline cover photo.
One of the major changes that facebook implemented when the change took place is you no longer have a default landing page. You can have different pages that facebook now call taps (some refer to it as apps). But the landing for your business page will always be your timeline. Some of you are thinking this completely sucks. But there is a way that you can still make your pages appealing, fun, and stand out. To do this you would create a cover photo just like the one you see below. You can see how Ben & Jerry’s use their cover photo to show their brand.
Facebook Timeline Cover Photo Rules:
At first glance you may think that this is a great place to showcase your business information. Whether it’s discounts, sales, products, contact information, but you must stop. According to facebook you cannot use this area to showcase contact information (put this in the about section right underneath the small photo), discounts, nor reference the “Like” button or “Share” button. So that means you must get quite a bit creative.
Below are a few cover photos that meet facebook guidelines:
Social Media Examiner – Simple but yet expresses their brand
FPE Services – Simple as well, but to the point
